Batu Berangkai is the name of kampar oldtown waterfall..it is situated near taman ros..locals would have evening walks there..on the way up the narrow 1 lane road is where orang asli stays..

i personally visited the place twice only despite staying in kampar for a year plus..many students would spend time there especially during the hot season as the water is very refreshing..but somehow locals have warn us not to go there at night or when its raining because the current is very strong..

i managed to meet a toy poodle named jacky..he's damn adorable and swims in the water too..

although the place is a relaxing spot to hang out..sadly this waterfall has claimed many lives..

last night i heard a shocking news..3 utar students were drowned at that very same waterfall..the victims were James Khor Wan Kai, 20; Yew Shy Gin, 19 and Yew Ghim Chnieh, 20 respectively..and a 22 year old was lucky enough to survive with only cuts and bruises..he did not wish to be named..

the sky was already dark during 5pm yesterday..i heard my friend said they were warn not to go..but somehow the 4 of them still went up hills..i do not know if its true..its all rumors..the 3 deceased went in the water first..the 4th person was about to enter when suddenly a gush of water came towards him..dragging him in the water as well..

a villager saw and managed to quickly pull him out..the other 3 was no where to be seen..they were found about 15 km away from where they fell..all i could say that its all fated..a tragic that shocked many..

last night i happened to pass by the river which leads to oldtown for dinner..many motorist stopped by the river and i was pretty curious too..it was raining by the way..after dinner i passed by the same road and yet there were still people there..a man was even holding a string..from where i was i could see that the water level was very high and the current was strong..anyone who fell in would be sweep away in an instant..that time it was 7 plus..

around midnight..i read the tragic news at star online..it was written that the victims were discovered at 9.40pm and 11 something..i just couldn't believe it..one of them named james was a guy my friends and i used to talked about..we often saw him dining at a coffee shop near ktar..saying he flirts with a lil girl which sticks with him a lot..now he is gone..

there will be a small tribute to the victims later tonight at the westlake basketball court from 9-11pm..do write a small card or bring flowers as a last respect..all these will be taken to penang and kedah for their funerals..here i would like to express my condolence to their families..they have all went to a better place..may they rest in peace..
